ONE MONTH!!

WOW!! We made it through our first month -- Shelby's first month of life, our first month as parents, the dogs' first month of not being #1. So, Daniel wanted to celebrate. It was a great idea to have a party, but I don't have to look too hard to find a reason for chips & dip!

Daniel started party planning on Wednesday. On Friday, we had our one month check up. At four weeks, Shelby is over 22 inches long, and weighs 10 lbs, 2 oz. Overall, she's doing great! She's smiling and cooing, her head is noticably more stable, and we're even getting used to each other's sleeping schedules. Sadly, it appears she's fallen victim of thrush and it's affecting her mouth (only a little) and her bottom (unfortunately, more than just a little). So after her doctor's appointment, we visited our dentist. His office is just down from the pediatrician's, and I had promised to bring the baby by once she was here. Shelby did great during her first "showing". She was awake and just constantly looking at me and smiling. I was so proud of that little outing!

Then, it was off to prescriptions being filled and party supplies being acquired! Our first stop was to purchase a pinata for the party. Can you believe one of the first places Shelby ever gets to go to is a place to pick out a pinata!?

Here's some pictures from the party.

We had a bowl of fruit, a veggie tray, chips & dips, hot dogs, cupcakes and a strawberry cheesecake. YUM! After we had our hot dogs, we were off to bust open the pinata and have some sweets. Who ever heard of a one month celebration? Apparently Daniel had! A friend of ours has twins, and they celebrated their first month. Then Daniel read in a book that the one month mark was quite a milestone for the baby and for the parents -- and in our case for the dogs, too! Shelby's pinata even had dog treats in it! Luckily we had a few little kids that could take a swing at the pinata. Yes, we were careful to keep the dog treats just for the dogs.

Shelby did awesome at her party! That little girl was held in more arms than we could have imagined. No doubt that there is much love for our little addition. Would you believe she was awake almost the entire party? She never cried, not one single time! She was very alert and just seemed to take in the festivities. Of course, we were incredibly proud of her -- she didn't find the need to show off her lungs, and I was thankful!

Hopefully everyone else had as good of time a we did. We had a nice little crowd for her first party. We can't wait to do it again! It was truly a great reason to celebrate!

I can't wait for the 2 month party! Or will I have to wait for 6 months or (gasp!!) a year?
